I, for one, am glad you're back. But then again, I think you're funny even when you're mad.

Chris, I just wanted to thank your daughter for writing such a terrific bio about your brother Steve. I knew Steve and Kathleen for that one year he was at George Dewey High School in Subic Bay. I only knew him in passing as a classmate and a little better as we were both on the track team. I always thought of him as a rather handsome chap and there was always a commanding presence about him. Kathleen was of elegance, grace and beauty.
I was recently told a story by Jim D'emidio who was also on the track team. We had some severe flooding in the Philippines that made the travel of our base bus from Subic Bay to pick us up in Makati impossible. A plane was dispatched to bring some of us back to Subic from Manila. Steve had a seat on the plane, but, gave it up to Jim, since he had a fucntion to attend back in Subic that night. Most of us along with Steve rode the long bus ride back to Subic late that night on a Victory Liner.
Another story was told to me a while back, by a good friend of Steve, Matt McClendon. I believe both Steve and Matt attended Radford in Hawaii, before your move to Subic. Matt visited the Arlington Cementery looking for Lee Marvin's headstone. While in his search, he stumbled upon the Admiral's headstone and was then devastated to find Steve's next to his dad. He was not aware nor was I, of Steve's passing. Steve, Matt and I were all GDHS Class of 1975.
I was told by recently retired Captain Jose Atangan, USN, of Steve's crew team. He raved about Steve and his team. Jose also attended GDHS and was in Steve's Company at Annapolis.
I can still remember watching Steve giving his all in of his races at Clark Air Base and Rizal Coliseum in Manila for our small team in 1975.

Chris with your permission and certainly you daughter's, I would like to post her bio on Steve on the GDHS website and also our GDHSSocal page on facebook. I am certain that there will be many who knew Steve for that one year in Subic Bay who will enjoy her piece and re-live fond memories of special times in such a special place.
Chris, it was an absolute honor and privilege to have known Steve.
Thank you and God bless.

I grew up in Kings Park and went to Royal. I swam on the team and coached it for many years while managing the pool. I have many happy memories of the pool and the neighborhood. It was a wonderful pool with many great families. I only wish the pool could have held on a few more years so I could have taken my own kids.

Chris, we Lisle relatives are just now finding out about Katie's death. What a wonderful tribute to your mother! Your may remember Aunt Irma and Uncle Hamp. Daddy died in 1997 and Mom in 2005. I'm so very sorry for your loss. We seem to never outgrow our need for parents. Please accept and pass on to your family our deepest sympathy.

This was so nice to read. I grew up in King Park. My parents moved there in 1982 or 1983, when I was about a year old, and I lived there until 1999. Shame about Royal Pool. We used to go there nearly every day during the summer, walking from Victoria & Thames, usually unsupervised. We'd spend the whole day there until the place shut down, buying ice pops and playing Uno and trying to touch that grate at the bottom of the deep end of the pool...

And the creek! I spent so many days hopping around the creek...

Good times.
